Deputy Principal, Junior School - Kim Winton

Congratulations everyone on a wonderful Term One.  It has been a fantastic start to the year, and we are so proud of how well our students have settled into their new classes and stages.

Our Easter Chapel was a special way to close off the term. Thank you to those who were able to join us. The message of Easter is such a powerful reminder of the hope and significance of our faith. Pastor Jayden and our students did a beautiful job sharing this through their message, prayers and praise and worship.

If you are looking for a place to celebrate Easter, Real Life Christian Church will be holding services across the Easter weekend, with further details included in today’s communication.

On behalf of the Junior School team, we wish all our families a safe, restful, and joy-filled Easter break. We look forward to welcoming everyone back refreshed and ready for Term Two.

Update from the Principal

The College Leadership Team continues to closely monitor the current global situation. At this stage, the College is operating as usual, and all activities and events, including those involving cross-campus travel, will proceed as planned.

Significant events discussed include:

Cross Country

ELT made the decision this morning to continue with Cross Country (first week of term) on the Carbrook campus (transporting our Springwood community) as we usually do. We are in conversation with Chris who will consult with his team about the Stage 2&3 Athletics Carnival which is late in Term 2.

Musical

ELT also decided that The Musical will go ahead with the usual transport arrangements in place for Springwood students to attend the Matinee Performance, as already planned.

Social Events

ELT agreed that the social events planned for students and their families on each campus will go ahead as planned.

With events unfolding across the globe, should any changes be required, we will communicate with families as promptly as possible.

ANZAC March – Saturday 25 April

ANZAC Day is a special day for reflecting on the bravery and leadership of those who serve and protect our country, past and present. Calvary Junior Schools (and MSS siblings are welcome as well), are promoting attendance at the Springwood ANZAC march on Saturday 25 April 2026.

We are formally asking members of our student leadership team; Year 6 Captains and Prefects as well as College Leaders to attend. Year 6 Captains will be carrying wreaths and our school banner as we all march together down Cinderella Drive to the ANZAC stone in the park for the service, which commences at 8:20am.

All attendees will gather at the Community Centre by 7:15am for the march, which begins at 7:45am. Students should wear their full formal uniform, including formal hat for this event.

2026 ANZAC March – Saturday 25 April

  • March assembly: 7:15am, Logan East Community Neighbourhood Centre (LECNA), 55 Cinderella Drive, Springwood.
  • March: 7:45am, commences from LECNA along Cinderella Drive and enters Springwood Park from the Southern entrance.

CAPA Update

Easter Chapel Performance

A big thank you to our amazing Voices Choir, who confidently led Springwood’s Easter chapel, in one of our favourite songs this term – ‘The Lord’s Prayer (It’s Yours)’, and also a beautiful Easter song – ‘Risen for Me’. It is a wonderful reminder that Jesus is real and is risen for me – he loves us so much!

From Term Two, we warmly invite all stages – Preps included – to join in Voices Choir. We rehearse Tuesday mornings from 7:45 – 8:30am. We will sing a range of songs, some will be hard and some will be easier - so if your child has a love for singing, please come along!

Calvary Orchestra

The Springwood Orchestra students will be involved in a number of performances in Term Two. Please ensure you have checked your emails, as the first one is at ANZAC Ceremony in Week One!
