Deputy Principal, Junior School - Kim Winton

Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome to Term 2!

I hope you enjoyed a restful and refreshing Easter break. The term ahead promises to be an exciting one, with Year 4, 5 and 6 Camps, community nights, and excursions designed to bring our Term 2 CHANGE unit to life.

The theme of Change will also be reflected through our Chapel services, focusing on the big idea that that when we encounter Jesus, He changes us, and through that transformation He uses us to impact the world around us.

Parent Overviews:

Our Assembly focus this term aligns with our Formation program, with a strong emphasis on developing social skills. Across the school, we use the language and strategies of Friendology friendship curriculum by UR Strong. As parents, you can sign up for free and join us in framing your child’s friendship growth and development by using this link: https://urstrong.com/parents/

Updates and Important Information

Staffing: As Mrs Bennett takes maternity leave, and we congratulate her on the recent safe arrival of her little girl, we welcome Mrs Chanel Wang to the Prep team. Mr Jeremy Black also joins the Calvary team, teaching Mondays and Tuesdays in Stage 3. I know they will feel blessed by our warm and generous community.

Parking: As a reminder, only parents with children attending Kingdom Kids are permitted to use the designated Kingdom Kids parking spaces down near the lower oval. Parking option for Prep – Stage 3 families are at the church and walk down, or quick drop off/pick up using the Turning Circle.

Donations Please!: We are looking for donations of mud kitchen items (unused frypans, saucepans, cooking utensils or mixing bowls) to inspire young ones to create and play imaginatively. Please drop donations to the bench seats outside the office.

Playground: The new playground is officially under construction! If you have been wondering what was under the tarps at the lower play area – it is the new playground ready for instalment over the coming months. This will close off the whole lower area, leaving access to the oval and the oval itself still available for use. Mr Marshall has opened the new Multipurpose Courts for students at break times and has communicated changes to their play spaces while work is underway on the new playground.

Parents, thank you for your continued support and partnership, it truly makes a difference in our school community. I look forward to a fantastic term together.
