Head of Community & Wellbeing, Springwood Junior School - Andy Marshall

Last Friday’s Grandparents Day was a truly special morning for our school community. From the warm welcome at the gates to the engaging classroom activities, there was a wonderful sense of joy and connection throughout the campus. It was a privilege to see grandparents sharing in their grandchildren’s learning. Our Book Fair was also a highlight, with families enjoying books together. Thank you for helping us celebrate these important relationships and strengthen our home and school partnership.

Tomorrow, we look forward to another exciting event as our Stage 3 students begin Interschool Sport. We wish them all the best as they represent our school in volleyball and soccer, showing teamwork, perseverance and great sportsmanship.

In the week ahead, our Year 3 and Year 5 students will begin NAPLAN next week. While these assessments provide helpful insight into student progress, we continue to emphasise that they are just one part of the learning journey. Our priority is that students approach each test with effort, resilience, and a calm, confident attitude. We encourage families to support this message at home, as reassurance, consistent routines, and a good night’s sleep can make a significant difference.

Parent–Teacher interviews are also now open for bookings. We warmly invite families to connect with teachers as we reflect on progress and begin setting goals for 2026. Please see the information in the tab above to secure your booking.

A reminder that College Leader applications are due next week for Stage 2 and Stage 3 students. We encourage those who have demonstrated service to the College to consider applying.

Guitar Students Visit to Yurana Retirement Village

Our wonderful Miss Crook, and her team of Guitar students had the joy of sharing music with Yurana residents this week. On Wednesday, 11 students from the Guitar program delighted the residents, with songs and performances on Classical Guitar.  The residents absolutely loved seeing the children perform.

Making connections with out wider community through music is an amazing opportunity – we love how passionate our teachers are, and our students become confident and versatile performers through experiences such as these!
