Dear Parents/Guardians,
Today your child will bring home a large white envelope containing two copies of the updated College enrolment contract, along with a letter explaining the simple steps we are asking families to complete as part of Calvary’s journey toward Separate Incorporation. Further background is available in my communication, Calvary’s Next Chapter, which was shared earlier this term and is available on our website.
Last Tuesday evening, families were invited to meet with our College Council Chair, Mr Kevin Yearbury, and me. Kevin explained what the proposed governance change means for Calvary families.
In Summary:
The Uniting Church has undertaken a governance review across the whole Church to ensure its structures are fit for purpose in a contemporary and increasingly complex environment.
Over time, many Church ministries have grown into complex organisations with greater regulatory and compliance responsibilities.
Fit-for-purpose governance is designed to:
- support the best outcomes for those served by each ministry; and
- recognise that staff working within each ministry are best placed to understand and respond to the needs of the communities they serve.
Currently, the UCAQ Property Trust is the Approved Authority and delegates responsibility to the College Council.
From 1 January 2027, Calvary Christian College RLCC Ltd, a not-for-profit company trading as Calvary Christian College, will become the Approved Authority.
The Board will then hold full responsibility for College governance and will be directly accountable to NSSAB for compliance with legislation relating to the operation of an independent school.
What This Means for Your Family
Families will continue to experience Calvary Christian College in the same way. The main change is that your enrolment contract will now be with Calvary Christian College RLCC Ltd trading as Calvary Christian College. For this reason, we are asking each family to sign the updated contract.
This has been a significant journey, and I am grateful that we have reached this important point. Separate Incorporation will allow Calvary to operate with greater independence while remaining the Calvary we know, value and enjoy.
Please read the contract, sign one copy and keep the second copy for your records. Place the signed copy back in the envelope and return it in your child’s school bag. The enclosed instructions outline the process and include contact details should you have any questions. (Link to Letter)
Yours sincerely
Cherylynne
Book Week - Character Parade
Book Week Character Parade is happening tomorrow. Parents and guardians are warmly invited to join us at the CCC from 9:00am to enjoy the parade and celebrate alongside our students. We look forward to seeing the wonderful creativity and imagination that our students bring to their costumes.
Sports Notice
Futsal training will not be held next week due to the volleyball competition, the following week due to the netball competition, or during the final week of term due to the MMS Competition.
Therefore, we have only one remaining futsal training session this term, which will be held on Thursday, 10 September.

Good News Week from The Chaplaincy Team
Hey Calvary Families!
During Week 8 this term the Chaplaincy Team is excited to let you know that The Good News Week is taking place and more importantly, the central focus this year is that we are wanting to hear from you!
Each year we take some time to focus on The Good News of Jesus and how God is moving and at work in our lives because of it. This year we want to hear from you about where you’re seeing God at work, whether it be locally, nationally or even globally.
The following is a simple online form we’d love for you to engage with and share with us a story of where you’re seeing God moving at the moment, we’ll then collect these stories, and with your consent, share them across the week to really broadcast all the ways our God is doing incredible things across the life of Calvary. You can either write out a story into the online form or submit stories directly to Ps Jayden jayden.vandyken@calvarycc.qld.edu.au or Ps Josh joshua.prevett@calvarycc.qld.edu.au using other methods, be it video or audio format or even a simple drawing, however you want to share your story!
This is an opportunity we’d love everyone to get involved with, whether you’re staff, a parent, and especially our students! Parents, please get alongside side your little ones and hear their stories to share with us, whether it’s giving them the form to fill out or filling it out alongside them, we want to hear from all ages across our college community!
Blessings
The Chaplaincy Team
