Head of Junior School Carbrook - Zoe O'Donnell

Dear Parents and Carers,

This week we are celebrating our Year 4 students who have headed off to Kindilan for their first camp experience. This exciting and adventure-filled opportunity is always a highlight of the year. Beyond the fun and shared memories, camp provides powerful learning experiences that help students grow in resilience, critical thinking and resourcefulness. It is wonderful to see them stepping outside their comfort zones, trying new things, and strengthening friendships along the way. We look forward to welcoming them back with many stories to share and then sending our Year 5 students off to Coolum in Week 5, for an equally exciting experience.

A reminder that there will be no Junior School assembly next week as the whole school community prepares for The Wiz musical. On Thursday, all Junior School students will attend a special performance, and we are excited for them to experience the creativity, talent and hard work that has gone into this production. Events like this enrich our students’ learning and broaden their appreciation of the performing arts.

In addition to this, there are many events coming up for our community in the following weeks, with Under 8’s Day taking place next week, followed by our Stage 2 & 3 Athletics Carnival and the next round of College Leader applications due the week after. Please keep an eye out for communication and reminders regarding these special events and opportunities.

College Leaders Application - Term 2

Applications are now open for our Stage 2 and Stage 3 students to apply for the next—and final—round of College Leadership positions. This is a valuable opportunity for students who are ready to step up, contribute to our community, and develop their leadership capabilities.

Applications are to be handed into Reception by 3:00pm Friday 22 May. Successful applicants will be acknowledge at the College Leaders Assembly Thursday 4 June.

Chinchilla Trip Donations

Each year, our Year 9 students travel to Chinchilla and Tara Shire for their Service Trip in September. As part of this initiative, we are collecting donations of shoes, warm blankets, and winter clothing for students at Tara Shire State College, where many families would benefit from additional support. In the Middle and Senior School, these donations will replace the usual gold coin contribution for Free Dress at the end of the term; students can bring their items to Form class throughout the term, where their donation will be recorded and permission for Free Dress granted.

Booklist Provider Feedback

The Junior School is seeking feedback from our community on your experience with our new stationery provider, Officeworks.

Your feedback is highly valued and will help us ensure we are meeting the needs of our families. Thank you in advance for taking the time to share your thoughts.  Responses are anonymous.
