Head of School Community & Wellbeing, Carbrook Junior School - Zoe O'Donnell

Dear Parents and Carers,

There has been a wonderful sense of excitement across the Junior School this week as students prepare for Grandparents Day tomorrow. This special event celebrates the gift of connection between generations, the stories, wisdom and unconditional love that grandparents and special friends bring into the lives of our children. In preparing performances and activities, our students have demonstrated a beautiful heart of service, taking pride in hosting and honouring those who mean so much to them. We look forward to sharing this meaningful day together.

As we look ahead, NAPLAN will commence for our Year 3 and Year 5 students next week. While NAPLAN provides useful information about student progress, we continue to remind our students that it is simply one measure of learning. Our focus is on effort, resilience and approaching each task with a calm and confident mindset. We encourage families to reinforce this message at home, reassurance, routine and a good night’s sleep go a long way.

Thank you for your continued partnership as we nurture capable, connected and resilient learners.

Parent–Teacher interviews are also now open for bookings. We warmly invite families to connect with teachers as we reflect on progress and begin setting goals for 2026. Please see the information in the tab above to secure your booking.

A reminder that College Leader applications are due next week for Stage 2 and Stage 3 students. We encourage those who have demonstrated service to the College to consider applying.

Guitar Students Visit to Wirunya Retirement Village

Our wonderful Miss Crook, and her team of Guitar students had the joy of sharing music with Wirunya residents this week. On Wednesday, 11 students from Carbrook Junior, Middle and Senior Schools delighted the residents, with songs and performances on Classical Guitar and Bass.

Making connections with out wider community through music is an amazing opportunity – we love how passionate our teachers are, and our students become confident and versatile performers through experiences such as these!
