Mr Dino Arraiol - Head of School Community and Wellbeing MSS
Dear Parents and Carers,
Everyday at Calvary Counts is a guiding focus we are introducing to our community, highlighting that each day at the College contributes meaningfully to the holistic development of our students. Every program, camp, carnival, alternative program, and learning experience is carefully planned to support this growth. Regular attendance at school is not only a legal requirement under the Education (General Provisions) Act 2006, but is also essential for building strong peer relationships. This is particularly important in today’s context, where many social interactions are increasingly online and disconnected. Consistent attendance enables students to form genuine social bonds, develop a sense of belonging, and engage fully in the life of the College.
Attendance also plays a critical role in developing resilience. Research in neuroscience highlights the importance of the anterior mid-cingulate cortex (aMCC), a part of the brain associated with perseverance and the ability to work through challenges. This area strengthens when individuals engage in tasks they may not initially enjoy but choose to persist with. When students are withdrawn from experiences perceived as “boring” or difficult, they miss valuable opportunities to build this capacity which is an essential life skill. As a community, you can support this by encouraging attendance even on days when students feel reluctant or are avoiding challenge. We ask families to partner with us in prioritising attendance as a means of not only meeting legal obligations, but to ensure our students develop the resilience, character, and connectedness that will serve them well beyond their years at Calvary.
Parent Teacher Student Interviews (PTSI)
Our PTSI are scheduled for Tuesday 28 April (second week of next term). The booking link to interviews will be made available next week and remain open until Sunday 26 April. Interviews can be easily booked on the College App, under the Parent Teacher Interviews button on the main page.
By the end of term you will find a range of results and feedback available on Parent Lounge related to how your child is progressing in each of their subjects. To access this information via the app, follow these steps:
- Click on the hamburger menu at the top left, scroll down and choose Parent Lounge.
- In Parent Lounge select the Student Details tab (second option horizontal heading), and select Curricular Activities.
It is worth reviewing your child’s progress on a termly basis and reaching out to teachers if you are concerned about how your child is travelling in a particular subject area.
Uniform Expectations – Term 2 Reminder
On the first day of Term 2 students will be required to wear the uniform required for their timetabled classes. And as we move into the cooler months, we ask for your support in ensuring students remain both warm and in correct uniform by ensuring that:
- Students wearing skirts or culottes may wear black footed tights, without socks.
- The black College jacket may be worn with both sport and formal uniform. Please note that the older purple jumpers have now been discontinued.
For further details on uniform requirements please visit the College website using the following link: https://calvarycc.qld.edu.au/parent-information and click on the uniforms tile.
ANZAC Day Service - Friday 24 April
On Friday 24 April 2026, Calvary Christian College will host its annual ANZAC Day Service on the ANZAC lawns, commencing at 10:15am. Students from Stages 2–6 will attend, accompanied by staff, as we come together to honour and remember those who gave their lives in service for the freedoms we enjoy today. Parents and carers are welcome to join us for this commemorative event.
ANZAC Day March - Saturday 25 April
ANZAC Day is a special day for reflecting on the bravery and leadership of those who serve and protect our country, past and present. Calvary Junior Schools (and MSS siblings are welcome as well), are promoting attendance at the Springwood ANZAC march on Saturday 25 April 2026.
We are formally asking members of our student leadership team; Year 6 Captains and Prefects as well as College Leaders to attend. Year 6 Captains will be carrying wreaths and our school banner as we all march together down Cinderella Drive to the ANZAC stone in the park for the service, which commences at 8:20am.
All attendees will gather at the Community Centre by 7:15am for the march, which begins at 7:45am. Students should wear their full formal uniform, including formal hat for this event. The specific details of the event are:
2026 ANZAC March – Saturday 25 April
- March assembly: 7:15am, Logan East Community Neighbourhood Centre (LECNA), 55 Cinderella Drive, Springwood.
- March: 7:45am, commences from LECNA along Cinderella Drive and enters Springwood Park from the Southern entrance.

Term 2 Consent Talks
On Tuesday 28 April 2026, our male and female students will attend separate, age-appropriate consent talks during school hours, presented by Daniel Principe and Emma Tabacaru. Both presenters have extensive experience working with young people on sensitive topics and approach these discussions from a Christian perspective, supporting students to make informed and wise choices.
Parents are encouraged to read through the topic outlines that their children will be spoken to and discuss these with them beforehand using this document: Link Here

Year 9 Service Trip Donations
Each year, our Year 9 students travel to Chinchilla and Tara Shire for their Service Trip in September. As part of this initiative, we are collecting donations of shoes, warm blankets, and winter clothing for students at Tara Shire State College, where many families would benefit from additional support. In the Middle and Senior School, these donations will replace the usual gold coin contribution for Free Dress at the end of the term; students can bring their items to form class throughout the term, where their donation will be recorded and permission for Free Dress granted.
Student ID cards
All students will have received their new student ID cards by the end of this week.
Students are required to bring their ID card to school each day. ID cards are used for signing students in and out of the College, printing and purchasing at the Café.
Replacement cards will incur a $5 fee.
Calvary Bus Services
Just a reminder that Calvary provides a bus service to the Carbrook Campus, servicing Redlands Bay, Beenleigh, Waterford and extending through to Springwood.
The College also operates an Intercampus Bus Service, transporting students from the Springwood Campus to the Carbrook Campus. This service stops at various locations along the route and returns via the same route in the afternoon.
For more information, please visit our website and view the available bus routes via the Bus Maps links below.
