Dear Parents and Carers,
Group photos this week evidenced the large number of children who commit to and enjoy the different clubs and sports on offer. It is a delight to see the students engaging in their favourite activities outside of the classroom environment.
Facilities Update
We are excited to share news of an upgrade to the grassed netball courts. In the coming days and weeks, you will notice this area will be fenced off while we bring in excavators and cement trucks to begin the process of concreting a full sized multi-purpose court, and build seating, shade, a storage shed and retaining wall. The new courts will accommodate our favourite sports; netball, futsal, basketball and volleyball.
We are also in the initial planning stage of redesigning the lower playground. Chatting with the students and collecting their input as ‘experts in play’ is an important part of this. In the coming week you will hear about all of these projects in more detail from Cherylynne, our Principal and CEO.
End of Year Awards & Services
As the end of the year events approach, Junior School students will be recognised for their achievements during an Awards Assembly, Sports Awards evening and CAPA Soiree. If your child is receiving and award at any of these events, you will receive an email alerting you to this prior to the event.
Celebration
The end of year Celebration event is a community favourite. If you are new to the campus and this is your first Celebration experience as a family, we look forward to sharing this highlight with you. In preparation, we have engaged with the team from Creative Dance Industries to run weekly choreography sessions with each Stage. This is a valuable opportunity for students to develop their movement and dance skills, which aligns with The Arts in the Australian Curriculum. Students will rehearse over the coming weeks until our Celebration event - held outdoors on the Junior School oval on Thursday 28 November. Please pray for good weather. It is always a joy-filled way to end the year together as a community.
Each stage will have a unique costume. Some items provided by the school and some generic items provided by parents. Letters with these details will be emailed out next week.
Meet Mrs Michelle Sprenger
From our Principal coms, you may know that there will be a change to the leadership structure in 2025. We are blessed to be able to introduce to you, the Head of School Community and Wellbeing for Springwood campus, Mrs Michelle Sprenger. Michelle has the opportunity to work in our Junior School this term and you will see her around predominantly on Tuesdays and at a few of the events coming up over the term. Here is an introduction from Michelle herself;
I'm delighted to join the Calvary CC team as the new Head of School Community and Wellbeing - Springwood in 2025. With 30 years of experience in education and further post-graduate qualifications, I have been a teacher of all Primary year levels and led school teams through multiple leadership appointments spanning academic, pastoral, and inclusion roles. At the heart of my work is the individual child and their God-designed uniqueness. My passion for the holistic development of students has been profoundly influenced by my parenting journey and research. Together with my husband, Andrew, we have raised our two young adult sons - Joshua and Caleb. It is my deepest desire to partner with you and strengthen the flourishing of our well-connected Calvary community, mindful that our children thrive within this warm, welcoming and nurturing environment. To this end, I would love to meet you! I would love the opportunity to meet and chat with you in readiness for 2025. You will find me at Happy Hens most Tuesday mornings. I am genuinely looking forward to building relationships and connecting with families to learn more about our wonderful community.
Praying you all have a safe and healthy week ahead.
Mrs Kim Winton
