A note from the Head of Middle and Senior School (Mr Wilson)

This time of the year is always busy with awards seasons and celebrations of the accomplishments of our students. In the last week we enjoyed both our Calvary Performing Arts Soiree and our Sports Award evening and I want to congratulate all students who were recognised at these events and the teaching staff who have worked with them across the year.

Tomorrow night I am looking forward to celebrating our Year 12 Valedictory and Graduation with our seniors and I want to congratulate them and wish them every blessing and success as they depart our College for life beyond school.

We have our 7-11 Academic Awards service approaching on the Thursday of Week 9 (28 November). The whole MSS will need to be in full formal uniform for this event – students have been told this. If they need to change after this event into a different uniform they will be able to do so.

Please keep an eye on important notices as we approach the end of the year, particularly any uniform updates for 2025.

Head of Middle & Senior School & Innovative Learning Design

General Notices from Mr Arraiol (Head of Wellbeing and Culture)

Final Week for Year 12 Students

Our Year 12 cohort of 2024 will host the Year 12 Final Chapel this Friday morning from 9 am to 10 am in the CCC. The Final Chapel will begin with a Guard of Honour from 8:45 am. This will be formed by students from Prep to Year 11, Calvary Staff and parents of the departing Year 12 cohort who join us on the day. The Valedictory and Graduation Ceremony, held on Friday, 15 November, at 5 pm in the CCC, will be our final event for the class of 2024 and serves to honour their dedication and achievements.

We look forward to celebrating this significant milestone with our students and their families.

Laptop Updates:

Our annual laptop update and inspection schedule for students in Years 7, 8 and the majority of Year 10 will require students to hand in their laptops, Targus protective carry bag and A/C power adaptor to the ICT department by 2 December 2024. During this time, student laptops will be wiped clean to allow for the fresh installation of software. Students have been requested to move any important documents or files to their cloud storage to avoid the loss of potential work. As this is a large scale refresh of student laptops, student laptops will only be available for collection on the first day of term next year.

Please be aware that parents will be charged $100 for repairs due to any physical damage to the laptops. Additionally, a replacement fee of $45 will be given for any missing chargers. In light of this, it would be advisable to ensure that your child has all the items listed above in good working condition and ready for the upcoming inspections.

Urban Xtreme Excursion

To celebrate the end of the school year, we’re thrilled to announce an exciting excursion to Urban Xtreme for all Middle and Senior School students on the last day of term! Urban Xtreme is an indoor adventure center offering a range of fun activities, including a Ninja Warrior Park, Trampoline Park, and potentially, climbing walls.

On Friday 15 November 2024 parents will receive an email from the College that will require them to either accept or decline the excursion invite and complete the necessary waivers for your child to participate in this event. We kindly request that these forms are submitted by Monday, 25 November, to help us finalize numbers for this event.

Uniform Updates

Please can all parents/carers read the following information from Mrs Gostelow regarding the updates to uniforms for 2025? The most pressing change to the uniform policy is regarding acceptable formal school shoes. As per this communication, all formal school shoes from 2025 need to be "a black leather laced formal school shoe" (please see stage-specific uniform requirements for an image of this).

Please click this link to provide further details about these changes and the process for ordering uniforms for 2025.

Interhouse Capture the Flag

On Wednesday, 27 November 2024, we will host a rematch of our Interhouse Capture the Flag with slightly adjusted rules and teams after many students enjoyed this activity last term. To facilitate participation in this event, students are required to wear their house shirts.

Stepping up into Stage 4

Stepping up to the next stage is a bit of a milestone for our students and it’s our intent to make this a smooth transition. On Friday 22 November, all students will experience time in their 2025 stage and meet a buddy who they can connect with when the new year begins. Our Year 6 students will spend this entire day stepping up to Stage 4 as they settle into the next step in their schooling journey.

Yr 7-11 Awards Service

Please let us know via this link if you can celebrate with us as we will provide light refreshments for visitors after the service.
