Reflection from Mr Wilson

Dear Parents and Carers,

As we conclude Term 2, I would like to extend a thank you to all our students and particularly our teaching staff for the work and effort they have put into this past semester. I hope that our students and their families get a chance to relax and enjoy time together over the winter break.

As a reminder, the first day of Semester 2 is Tuesday 9th July (Monday is a pupil free day).

Tomorrow, we have House based competitions running from sporting contests to eisteddfods – this should be a great time to build House culture and further connections between our students. Our free dress option tomorrow is supporting Farm Angels (formerly Drought Angels), which our College, through our farm, has had a long-standing relationship. It is a gold coin donation for free dress or students can wear House/sport uniform.

If students are wearing free dress tomorrow, please read our free dress standards below (this has also been sent to students this week). Students who are in breach of our free dress standards will be asked to change or will be sent home.

Semester 1 reporting will be released early in the holiday break. Please engage with this report and encourage your child where they have done well and also plan some improvement goals with your child for Semester 2. The report will also indicate whether the teacher has requested an interview with you and your child to discuss their progress in the subject. Parent Teacher Student Interviews are coming up on the 17th of July and will be held in our Stage 4 Culbert building (like last time). Interviews will be open at the same time reports are released and will close on Monday 15th of July. I have attached a how to guide in this communication to show you how to book an interview.

Semester 2 uniform reminder and update/retraction

Please see below for my reminder about the uniform from last week. I would just like to add a retraction/update about a comment I made about jumpers last week. Initially I asked for students to be wearing the correct Calvary jumper from the start of Term 3. Due to some ongoing stock shortages, this isn’t going to be feasible, so we have extended the allowance to wear ANY Calvary jumper (as long as it is in good repair) with either the sport/formal uniform until further notice.

Just a reminder that School Locker has now reopened, and you should be able to go and try on uniform items that have been difficult to access. As we start Term 3, can I please encourage parents and carers to ensure:

  1. Student pants are of the correct length. Our green unisex sports pants should be worn close to the knee (if students put their hands at their sides, the length of the pants must be noticeably longer than the ends of their fingers [the arm test]). These pants are not designed to be rolled up high or worn as short shorts. Male and female students attending school next term with pants that are noticeably not the correct length will be sent home until they attend in the correct fitting uniform. It is worth noting that all College pants/skirts/culottes, etc., are designed to be worn close to the knee – if they are sitting mid-upper thigh they are the wrong length/size.

  2. Upon return to school after the holiday break, we ask everyone to remember that hair is to be off the ears, off the collar, and at least 1cm above the eyebrows. Haircuts are also not permitted to be mullets or long on the top with short shaved sides. Students are welcome to tie up long hair to meet our guidelines for long hair.

General Notices

Notices from Mr Arraiol

Group photos are scheduled for the 25 and 26 of July 2024.

The number of groups or clubs will be reduced to those representing leadership at the College, groups that have already performed or competed and those that are yet to perform or compete. The schedule for this will be shared during the first week back next term. The majority of Junior School photos will be taken on 25 July, and most of the Middle and Senior School photos the following day.

First Day Back Wear Sports Uniform

To start Term 3 off, we are requesting that Middle and Senior School students arrive at school in their sports uniforms. This will enable students to participate in the inter-house challenges scheduled for that day more comfortably.

Congratulations to all students and staff for an amazing event last Friday Evening. It was wonderful to hear the ensembles perform and individuals play their instruments in the recitals. The standard gets better every time I hear you perform. Keep up the hard work.
