Dear Parents and Carers,

Next week the College will embark on Good News Week and there is a special communication below from the Lead Pastor of RLCC Adam Low explaining how this week works:

Every year at Calvary we take a week to celebrate and focus on prayer, mission, and the Good News of Jesus Christ. Next week is “The Good News Week.”

While we could say that every week at Calvary is “The Good News Week” – taking a week to engage more deeply with the Good News Jesus offers, how we are simultaneously recipients of this good news, and invited to be participants in sharing it is a wonderful and empowering opportunity for staff, students and families.

Our chaplaincy team have worked with staff and students to provide opportunities to celebrate how we receive and personally respond to the good news of real life in Jesus Christ, and also BE and BRING this good news to others in our world.

Activities will include an interactive prayer room, Reggie Dabbs visiting the Carbrook Campus, sausage sizzle / bake sales to raise funds for Compassion, a good news stories wall display, an ‘agent of good news’ challenge across the week, and more. You are invited to celebrate “The Good News Week” with us!

Qld Education Pupil Free Day

Tomorrow is a day off for students, and a day of learning for our staff. We love what we do, and tomorrow will be a day of professional development and team planning to ensure we are always forward focused.

Prep & Stg 1 Athletics Carnival

What fills my heart is the absolute determination of our little ones as they give their all to the task at hand. At the Prep and Stage 1 Athletics Carnival yesterday, this was the theme of the day. Every child running, throwing, and jumping with persistence and delight as they gave each activity their best effort. They were so encouraging of each other and the smiles on their faces were a clear sign of the fun they had. Thank you, Mr McInnes and Year 6 students, for leading the event, and thank you parents for your support as well.

Showcase - Journey Through Time

There are a large number of students across the college enjoying the CPA (Performing Arts) program. Earlier in the year we held our Junior Showcase for our younger students. Our Senior Showcase event is on Saturday 7 September.

The theme, Our Journey Through Time, is based on the history of the CPA program over the past 40 years. Many of our Stage 2 and 3 students are involved either through the Voices Choir or various ensemble groups.

Come along and meet Alumni and past staff who contributed to growing CPA, as well as hear the beautiful performances of our Stage 2 to Stage 6 students.

Sports/Clubs News

Interschool Sport

No Sport due to Pupil Free Day.

Calvary Netball Cup

Calvary Netball Cup is on Wednesday 11 September, Week 10 of Term 3.

Information has been sent home with participating students.  Calvary Netball Cup   Parent approval is required via the Parent Lounge at your earliest convenience.

Colour Fun Run

Colour Fun Run is coming up on the last day of term. The run will be taking place in the afternoon and students will run in Stage groups.

As this is a free dress day, we encourage parents to send students to school in clothes that can get dirty.  The colours are designed to wash out but have been known to stay in some fabrics.  The colour run is more effective on white/light coloured t-shirts, thus we also recommend sending spare items in with your child into which they can change and/or a towel to sit on in the car ride home.

This year the fundraising will be going towards sporting equipment for your children to use and updating sports teams’ uniforms.  Please see attached letter for information regarding fundraising.  Colour Fun Run Parent Letter
