Dear Parents and Carers
This week we have celebrated all things science in the Junior School for Science Week. It has been fantastic to see our learners engaged in all strands of Science.
Parents who are also Science experts
Thank you to all the parents who have taken time to come in and teach us about Biology through plants and snakes, Chemistry through explosions and physics through forces demonstrations.
On Thursday, Mr Grant came to run lunch time sessions for our students to see some science in action. A highlight was making fire.
Dan Warlow Performance
On Wednesday, our students were treated with a spectacular musical show performed by Dan Warlow. Dan is a kids' Christian music artist, who has a heart to lead children (and families) to know God more. His gift and passion to see children learn biblical truth through praise and worship is extraordinary. There were songs, jokes, Olympic races and puppets.

Safe on Social Presentation
According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, 40% of children are spending between 10-19 hours a week on screens, and 24% are spending more that 20 hours per week. An increasing percentage of this time is spent on social media platforms such as Instagram and TikTok. In the conversations we are having with our students, it is clear that many are accessing multiple social media platforms, often simultaneously. In previous generations, we had a reprieve from our school world once we left the grounds, giving us more time to connect with our family and enjoy our hobbies. However, our kids are being bombarded by notifications late into the night, which is not only impacting their sleep, but providing little down time from their social world. Interactions that happen at school are being followed up online, and our staff are mediating the fallout of interactions that are happening late at night on social media.
The online world changes so rapidly. As parents, we need guidance on how to navigate this, and how to enforce boundaries that will keep our children safe. Please join us to hear Kirra speak on the 27 August at Carbrook campus.
