Father's Day Movie Night - Tomorrow

We are excited to announce that our Year 10 students will be hosting an outdoor Movie Night for the Calvary Community on 23 August. This special event is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate Father's Day, Sunday 1 September, or simply come and enjoy some quality time with your family.

The movie being screened is 'IF', a heartwarming and inspirational film suitable for all ages. In addition to the movie, our Year 10 students will be hosting a variety of games starting at 5:15 PM to entertain children while they wait for the movie to begin. Food, snacks, and drinks will be available for purchase on the night, with all proceeds going towards our Children of Compassion initiative.

For further details and a QR code that can be scanned, please click on the attached poster or use the following link to purchase your tickets: https://www.trybooking.com/CSQLE

Safe on Social Presentation - Next Week

According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, 40% of children are spending between 10-19 hours a week on screens, and 24% are spending more that 20 hours per week. An increasing percentage of this time is spent on social media platforms such as Instagram and TikTok. In the conversations we are having with our students, it is clear that many are accessing multiple social media platforms, often simultaneously. In previous generations, we had a reprieve from our school world once we left the grounds, giving us more time to connect with our family and enjoy our hobbies. However, our kids are being bombarded by notifications late into the night, which is not only impacting their sleep, but providing little down time from their social world. Interactions that happen at school are being followed up online, and our staff are mediating the fallout of interactions that are happening late at night on social media.

The online world changes so rapidly. As parents, we need guidance on how to navigate this, and how to enforce boundaries that will keep our children safe. Please join us to hear Kirra speak on the 27 August at Carbrook campus.

Colour Fun Run

Colour Fun Run is an exciting way to end the term at Calvary on Friday 13 September. This year, the Colour Fun Run will be held near the Calvary Community Centre field for the Junior School Classes at Carbrook. There will be a set up path that the children will be running or walking around. The more times they pass the colour zone the more colourful they become with explosions of colour.

Please send a plain white T-shirt that they can change into for this event. It is recommended that all other clothes worn for free dress day are able to be sprayed with the colour chalk, it is washable, however we want to protect clothing and shoes.

Times:

Prep & Stage1             9.30am

Stage 2                         10.00am

Stage 3                         11.30am

This year the fundraising will be going towards sporting equipment for your children to use and updating sports teams’ uniforms.

Let’s celebrate the end of term with a rainbow of excitement and COLOUR!
